| Lectrus Expands Metal Enclosure and Electrical Integration Operation to Midwest US - Monday, February 01, 2010Lectrus Corporation has announced the acquisition of D.T.S, Inc. of Tea, South Dakota. The purchase expands Lectrus’ sales, engineering, fabrication and electrical integration capabilities into the upper Midwest, Rocky Mountain and Western Canadian regions. D.T.S., Inc. was established in 1979 and manufactures custom steel and aluminum enclosures, sub-base tanks and trailers for the commercial generator market. Like Lectrus, each project is designed, engineered and individually built to meet customer-specific requirements. D.T.S., also known as Dakota Enclosures, has developed a specialization for large, sound-attenuated projects that require unique electrical components enclosed in a high-quality, engineered metal housing. “D.T.S. is a wonderful addition to the Lectrus family”, said Lectrus President and CEO Jerry Driscoll. “Their commitment to build the highest quality product and exceed customer expectations is second to none in the industry. The location of their plant, the talent of the team and their presence in adjacent markets fits perfectly with Lectrus’ vision”. Lectrus currently operates plants in Chattanooga, TN and Houston, TX, which cover more than 50 acres and employ nearly 400 people. With the addition of the D.T.S. facility in South Dakota, the company will now have the ability to engineer and produce a wider variety of metal enclosures in all three plants including: electrical equipment centers, operator centers, skids, custom cabinets, generator enclosures, sub-base tanks and trailers. The acquisition will also expand the company’s customer base and market reach, further increasing Lectrus’ leadership in the custom metal enclosure industry. “There are tremendous synergies between the two companies”, said former D.T.S. President and COO Kent Barbee. “The operational capabilities and business philosophy perfectly complement one another, and customers should soon enjoy the benefit of the combined operations,” he added. Since 1968, Lectrus has provided world-class protection solutions for electrical equipment and personnel for a wide variety of clients and markets. In 2004, Lectrus acquired Cleveland Manufacturing in Houston, Texas and enjoyed record sales levels through that plant in 2009. Formerly known as Metal Systems and MSI Equipment Centers, Lectrus is the leading electrical systems integrator in the US, engineering and constructing turn-key equipment centers, operator centers and custom enclosures that protect complex electrical systems in all kinds of business sectors—oil and gas, power, hydro, industrial, just to name a few. On Wednesday, February 4th, 2009, company executives began sharing details of this new identity and brand to its valued employees and customers. Lectrus represents reliable metal building production coupled with expertise integrating complex electrical systems for the power, oil and gas and industrial markets. “After more than four decades, our company has grown and changed in many ways, as have the markets we serve,” said Lectrus Corporation President and CEO Jerry Driscoll. “The name Lectrus provides a simpler, more unified brand that reflects who we are today—the leading electrical systems integrator known for unrivaled reliability. It also more effectively positions us for where we are heading tomorrow and beyond. Of course, you can rest assured that, while our name has changed, the fundamentals of our commitment to quality and service remain steadfast.”
Since 1968, Metal Systems has provided world-class protection solutions for electrical equipment and personnel for a wide variety of clients and markets including custom manufactured equipment centers, operators centers, and custom electrical enclosures. In Chattanooga, the company was known as Metal Systems, and the Houston operation used MSI Equipment Centers. Company executives determined that numerous companies use the name Metal Systems and MSI. As Lectrus launches new products and services, as well as participating in new markets, company executives determined that investing their marketing dollars in a single, unique company name made good financial sense.
“As we build awareness of our company with end users and engineers who work on projects around the world, it is important they recognize and can easily contact our company,” said Lectrus Marketing Director Deron Austin. “Our current name no longer described our competitive advantage. Lectrus is simple and professional, which gives us a uniform corporate name as we pursue acquisitions and expand our products and services.”
